Meet Remy, Rocco, Ranger, Riley and Roxy!
The backyard 5 were surrendered to HFP by their prior owner. They were the product of an accidental litter, and the woman never found them individual homes, but instead kept them all together in the backyard.
Prior to arriving at HFP, they had never stepped foot outside the fence walls before. All were completely shut down and scared. They will need patient homes willing to put time, effort and love into helping them continue to blossom and learn.
They are progressing all at different paces, shy and timid but desperately wanting to trust; gentle and allow handling. They have tested well with dogs, cats and would do best in a home with adults or teens only (for now as little kids may be too overwhelming to them).
Looking for very specific homes going forward due to this false start in life!
Dog experienced (shepherd-experience a plus) homes a must. Experience working with underexposed/undersocialized animals with a solid plan for continued young dog training, socialization and positive exposure; they will need work on the basics as well such as learning leash pressure, how to travel in the car, and basic focus based and impulse control commands
Preference to homes with friendly, well-centered, well-socialized and well-mannered dog-role models; dogs who will provide companionship, perhaps play, but most importantly help “teach them how to dog.” Of course owners should still be prepared to work with the new dog one-on-one as well.
Preference to home owners w/ land/fenced yards — they would not do well in a urban or apartment setting and will benefit from a quieter neighborhood in the suburbs or countryside.
They are roughly 8 months old and about 50-55 lbs, will most likely be 60-65 full grown.
$300 adoption donation includes spay/neuter, vaccinations, vetting, microchip, hw and fecal tested + up to date on monthly preventatives.
