Meet Maisy: 45 lb weimeraner hound mix 1 yr 9 months (per DNA test)
Maisy was adopted as a 9 week old puppy from HFP Rescue in 2018. She was born at HFP with her siblings and mama Coco. Unfortunately, she is not comfortable with the youngest child (8) in the home and has snapped at him (without breaking skin). HFP and the past owners agree that an adult-free home or home with kids 14+ would be ideal.
Maisey is a high energy pup that is extremely intelligent. She loves structure once she is used to it.
She is crate trained but can sometimes still be vocal as she prefers being with her people.
As her puppy-hood is winding down she is truly blossoming into an ideal companion animal for outdoor enthusiasts or hunters but she does need to be leashed still as her prey drive is very strong.
She loves games and recently started learning her some nose work games which she loves as it has treats involved.
Does the dog get along with:: Dog-FriendlyShe has not lived with other dogs but has been around dogs in the neighborhood. She loves to play, play, play but will also leave dogs alone that are not interested. She has also done group daycare and plays well in groups.
Mais Loves everybody and is curious, and also pretty good at not jumping on people. She also loves cats but if the cats run she thinks its a game and she loves to play games. That said she also has cat friends that will play with her so it goes both ways
Does the dog like children?: Yes
Where does the dog sleep?: crate but she is also fine to be on her bed if anyone prefers that. she though would love to be snuggle buddy if new home wants a bedmate
Is the dog allowed on your furniture?: No
Is the dog crate trained?: Yes
Where do you keep your dog: crate and with us as I work from home.
Please list any particular fears your dog has.: Strange sounds but she is mostly non-reactive (usually just a momentary reaction then quickly moves on)
What is the dog's favorite : She loves to play tug of war and she loves food games like a rolling ball that dispenses her food/treats and also gnawing on a bone or antler. running and hiking are her favorite. she is also fine in a car and has traveled up to about 2hrs at a time but could go longer we just dont go much further.
What does the dog like?: most things and being part of what ever is going on, she is really quite sweet. she also loves tug of war and other games and especially going on runs and hiking. really a great pup for active person(s)
What does the dog dislike?: sharp noises and feeling smothered or cornered. she would do best in a kid free home for this reason.
Ideal home: A large fenced in yard where she can play often with other playful friendly dogs. An active couple without young kids would be great. Her family should be active and a willing participant in her development and ongoing training. She would be phenomenal in running partner, agility, hunting, nose work, or as an on-leash hiking buddy.
