Miss Meatball is a compact 1 year pocket sized staffordshire looking for a home! She is good with dogs given proper intros. She has done well with dogs of all sizes both male and female. The best matched dog in a home for Meatball will be a well-balanced, well-socialized and confident dog. Her playstyle can be a bit awkward but she does a good job of reading dog's cues if they don't want to play.
Meatball is moderately active -- backyard play and a walk or two a day would be all she needs. During the day she is content to snooze next to you as your work from home, or fine being left alone a few hours at a time w/ no sep anxiety, non destructive and no house accidents. She is completely housetrained.
She LOVES playing tug and playing with toys, stuffies, she loves her bene bone (no resource guarding) and would benefit from enrichment activities like kongs and snuffle matts or scent games.
She has done well meeting lots of people but does best if allowed to solicit affection at her own pace for first meet (this means not immediately reaching down to pet or hug her). She only takes a minute or so of sniffing to warm up but a few times has been spooked if a new person immediately reaches out over her head - for this reason we would recommend a home w/ no little kids. Once she knows you and warms up she is a complete HAM and LOVE BUG. She has lots of different human friends and loves many people. We would recommend an adult or teen + only home for Meatball. We would recommend a home w/o cats as she shows drive towards kitties.
Meatball tested positive for anaplasma (a tickborne disease) for which she is receiving meds and there should be no long term effects. She is not a big barker. She sleeps through the night and does not need to be crated. She would love a home that would let her sleep on the bed. Meatball would do best in a home with a big backyard to play and zoomie in; a quiet neighborhood or suburban setting (vs urban or city).
