Meet sweet Rio!
Still a puppy at heart, this 11 month, 50 lb mutt was found abandoned and dumped in an orchard in central California. He did great with dogs at the shelter and all the volunteers, before heading north to us at HFP and his HFP foster home in Davis.
His first time fosters adore him; here is what they have to say:
- a sweet, lovey, silly, lickey, smiley 11 month old with fun, puppy energy
- loves fetch, his chew toys, and sunbathing in the backyard
- quick learner - doing well with "sit" and "come" in low distraction areas - working on sit in the front yard with more distractions
- comfortable eating and hanging out in his new crate. learning "get in your box" to get in for food, treats and toys
- doing better walking on a leash, but is strong and pulls when other dogs or cats are visible (he is a bit forward on intros with dogs but has not been aggressive)
- excited, happy, and jumpy when meeting new people, calms down after a few minutes
- a little mouthy, but no biting
- no potty accidents
- jumps in the car with "load up" and rides well
- does not try to get on the furniture
A home committed to continued young dog training, positive exposure, and relationship building a must!
