Bandit

Summary: Hi - my name is Bandit! I am a 3 year old bully shepherd mix who would be a great addition to a loving family! I am one of the most affectionate dogs you’re likely to meet, and would love to smother my family members with kisses and cuddles. Oh, you want to hang out on the couch? I’ll lay right next to you and strengthen our friendship! In fact, I am so gentle that I don’t like tug-of-war because I don’t want to hurt you, but throw a tennis ball and I’m all over it. I’m always curious to learn new things; within one week I have already learned how to sit and walk on a leash like the proper gentleman I am. Although I’m curious, if you leave me alone I promise not to destroy your things. If you’re going on an adventure, please take me with you - I love going for long walks, runs, and even hikes! I’ve done a few 4-5 mile runs and finished a 9.5-mile hike with incline and loved every second of it. Most people who see me on the street stop to pet me and love telling me that I’m a handsome boy. I’m great with other dogs and very kid-friendly - my goal in life is to become best friends with every person and dog I cross paths with.

Activity Level: High Energy with the ability to relax in the home when it’s time to chill out. Perfect combo!

Daily Exercise Needs: 3-4, 20-30 minute walks plus some time for fetch. Better yet, take me on your morning runs or hikes.

Current Schedule: Bandit wakes up around 7:30 and will try to smother you with kisses. He likes to get some attention and affection first thing in the morning before going on a 20-30 minute walk. After the morning walk, he’ll start snacking on his food and will usually finish a bowl of water pretty quickly. He goes through periods of needing attention to being independent in the backyard throughout the day, and will usually walk 3-4 more times throughout the day.

Housetrained: Yes

On-Leash: When alone without distraction, Bandit walks wonderfully with the Gentle Leader collar. But, he loves introducing himself to other people and other dogs so he tends to tug when he comes across others if he’s on a normal collar. We are working on his leash manners and he is a very quick learner!

Experience level of future adopters: Beginner to intermediate

Dogs: Dog friendly

Kids: Bandit hasn’t had a lot of interaction with children, but he loves to meet new people and just wants to love everyone.

Cats: Bandit hasn’t interacted with any cats, but I think he might do well if he is introduced correctly.

Describe Personality: He is extremely affectionate, curious, calm and dog/people-oriented

Likes/Dislikes: Bandit loves to play fetch with a tennis ball! He is also a very big fan of treats and peanut butter-stuffed bones. I haven’t found much that Bandit does not enjoy!
