Chacho

MEET CHACHO! Chacho is a 9.5 yr lab/cattle dog mix who was rescued from The San Joaquin holding facility in a small rural part of Central California after his owners surrendered him due to losing their home in a fire.

Chacho is currently being fostered in a home with two other dogs in Santa Rosa CA. Here is what his foster mom Katie as to say:

After a few days in our home, Chacho really started to come out of his shell. He is very mellow inside the house but very energetic when taking him for walks. He can actually go for a run! We take him for 3x short to long walks a day. Despite being almost 10 years old, he still has a lot of energy and loves his walks! He is very polite dog and well behaved. Not reactive to any animals other then once when he saw a squirrel he wanted to chase.

Activity Level - Low/Medium. He is very mellow however he can get restless if he does not get walks or any outdoor activities.

Bark Frequency - Hardly ever. Only heard him bark twice. Not triggered by noises/dogs/cats or anything.

Housetrained - Yes.

How does you dog do left alone? - Very good. He does not mind.

How well do they walk on the leash? - He hardly pulls at all. Extremely easy to walk!

Do they like traveling in the car? - Yes he loves car rides. Especially in the back where he can stare out the window.

Good with: Dogs/Cats/Kids? - Yes to all.

Likes: Going for walks (his favorite!), getting treats, getting lots of attention from people, toys (recently has discovered he likes them), and being indoors napping on his dog bed.

What do you think is the ideal home for your foster dog? Somebody who is willing to keep him as an indoor dog with his dog bed but also able to provide him with short walks during the day or has a yard that he can play in. I think a place with a yard would be very beneficial for him as he does enjoy being outside and exploring but is loving being snuggled up inside especially when it is cold. Somebody that will spoil him with a lot of attention and physical affection when they are home. He needs a lot of human contact to come out of his shell a bit. Chacho could do well in many types of homes, and I could also see him with a young family that has kids 5+ He does not jump on anyone and is very respectful of things in the house. Also very affectionate with a need for more physical affection and would love to see him get the attention he deserves :)
