Ella

3.5 year old female spayed black/brindle Mastiff/Lab mix, 70 lbs.

Where did you get this dog?: Hearts for Paws Rescue on January 1, 2018.

Why is the dog being given up?: She was spooked my a biker and bite them. El Dorado County bite laws are extremely strict unfortunately. She is super sweet and we wish we could keep her but we are being kicked out of our house because of it and are having a hard time finding a new rental.

If yes, please describe in as much detail as possible: Reaction to bikes and offleash dogs that spook her.

Does the dog get along with:: Dog-Friendly. Ella does best when she lives with another dog. She has a lot of dog friends. She isn't good at first impressions so she doesn't go to the dog park. She is leash reactive only if an off leash dog approaches her without the "proper" introduction.

Does your dog have handling sensitivities? How is your dog meeting strangers?: She can be timid when you approach her from behind. She doesn't like to be picked up. She is timid at first but overall fine.

Does the dog like children?: Yes

Are there children in the home?: No

Any specific feeding instructions you would care to share with your dogs new owner?: None. She is not food aggressive. She does wait for her "okay" to start eating.

Where does the dog sleep?: In the bed, on the floor next to the bed, or in her crate.

Is the dog allowed on your furniture?: Yes

How does the dog react to being left alone?: She is fine with it.

Please list any particular fears your dog has.: Bikes, motorcycles, off leash strange dogs.

Desrcibe any training the dog has, tricks it knows, and any experience with a trainer.: She had private trainings with Sandy Matthieson and also group trainings with her. She is good at sit, stay, leave it, drop it, look, lay down, load up, touch, shake, high five, etc.

What does the dog dislike?: Being picked up or startled

Is there anything else you can share that is special, unusual, or endearing about your dog that will help the new owners?: She is the biggest cuddle bug! Also, any time you reach down to pet her and she is comfortable around you, she will just immediately lay down for belly rubs.

Are there any things you think a new owner needs to know?: You have to introduce her to dogs in the right way! We have told many dog sitters this and they don't believe us. Then the dog introduction goes poorly.

Please describe a typical day for your dog during the workweek (what time wake up, when eat, how many walks a day, where to -- dog parks, trails, neighborhoods, runs, etc), how long left home alone, what time to bed?: 6 am - wake up hang out with dad
7 am - go back to bed to cuddle with mom
9 am - get out of bed, go outside, and eat breakfast
10 am - 30 min walk
11 am - home along in crate
12 pm - go outside then home alone again
5 pm - 30 min walk
6 pm - dinner then cuddles, usually refuses to go outside again for the rest of the night

She only reacts to bikes when they sneak up on her (if she seems them coming, she is fine), motorcycles and off leash dogs who approach her. She has to meet other dogs by walking on leash with them parallel for approximately 5 min and then she is ready to be best friends. (Puppies don't require any warming up.) She is crate trained and loves it. She also knows sit, stay, lay down, come, look, touch, drop it, leave it. She is super smart and picks up new commands quickly.
