Hazel

Happy Hazel arrived to our program as an owner surrendered dog, due to a move. She grew up in a home with kids from ages 1-12 years, and has had positive interactions with cats. She is an adorable, light 35 lb Kelpie/mutt who is extremely engaging, smart and trainable.

She has had zero experiences outside of her own home and yard up until arriving at her new foster home in Davis. As such most things are new to her. She is making huge strides in just a short amount of time so we are confident with the right person who will put the time into continued young dog training and socialization, she will keep making big improvements. Within 1 day she learned sit, down, paw, and how to walk on a leash/leash pressure.

Hazel has not been socialized with other dogs but has done very well on parralel walks. She does not have all the doggy manners down like knowing not to go face to face with a dog and can bark when she first sees a dog. At this moment, she would do best as an only dog in the home, or with a confident role-model dog and humans experienced with proper integration of multiple animals. Hazel will thrive with owners that will continue to provide structured interactions with dogs to continue her on the right path. She is smart, trainable & has great potential.
