COURTESY POST: RIVERSIDE CA (Pierre, CA)

Meet Jack, 75 lb pit mix —  Pepper loves to play and run around. He likes tug a war and playing with balls. He wants to be involved in everything. I feel he is happiest when he is included in activities.

Check the words that best describe your dog.: FRIENDLY, NOISY, QUIET, ACTIVE, PLAYFUL, SMART, AFFECTIONATE, ROUGH

Does the dog get along with:: Dog-Friendly — Currently he lives with 3 other dogs. 2 are mainly indoors and the interaction between Pepper Jack and the Chihuahuas is somewhat minimal. Pepper wants to play with one but the Chihuahua, never wants to play with him. Pepper tries, but Mater always barks and chases him away. The smallest one stays away from him. Our other dog, Oso (Bijon mix) stays outdoors with him. They cohabitat the same area. They leave each other alone, could lay in the same area and eat in the same area but don't play together. They did play together at first but I think Pepper was a bit to rough for Oso.

He does bark at dogs walking down the street because he is overly excited to see them.

What does the dog like?: He likes being scratched on his chest and behind his ears. He also enjoys being rubbed between his eyes.

He can and will jump a four foot fence if left alone.

Is there anything else you can share that is special, unusual, or endearing about your dog that will help the new owners?: I love how he is always excited to see me and most of the time he will grab whatever he finds and brings it to me so we can so we can have a small game of tug a war.

Typical Day: Our typical day starts at 6:30 am. He hears me moving around in the house as I get my kid ready for school. He eats around 8:00-8:30. We try to squeeze in a 20 minute walk out in the field across from us. I sit outside with him when I paint, kint or just to catch some sun. He eats again around 7:30 p.m. and normally he is snoozing by 9 p.m. Although he is an outdoor dog and will wake during the night if he hears other dogs barking.

Please provide a summary of the “ideal” home for your dog:: An ideal home for Pepper would be a home with a large yard so he has space to run around freely. A home with maybe one other dog and dog parents who will give lots of love and patience. A place where he will be cherished as he deserves to be.
