Romeo (Courtesy Post)

Currently Located in Sacramento:

Romeo lived at "animal sanctuary" for 8 years, until it closed down and a nice woman stepped up to help care for and rehome some of the animals, including Romeo. This sweet little dude lived in the barn I a small enclosure with a dozen dogs, later moved to an outdoor kennel. The last several years he had access to inside and outside of a home that was on the property with about 10 dogs. He is starved for attention and wants a lot of it! Romeo gets along great with my Rotti and Miniature Schnauzers. He will paw at my hand to get my attention for me to pet him. He does great at the dog parks and gets along well with the other dogs but can be jealous of some dogs’ attention. He is great on a leash and moves along quickly although he is obese. He isn't shy at all!

Is there anything else you can share that is special, unusual, or endearing about your dog that will help the new owners?: Romeo is a great companion dog. He will follow you room to room. He will paw at you when he wants your attention. He is a very easy dog to care for and enjoys getting a bath in the sink. He doesn't shed much at all.

Are there any things you think a new owner needs to know?: Romeo is very sweet, loving and quiet. He does like to dig if there are rodents in your yard or wants a cool place to lie down. He likes most dogs.

Please describe a typical day for your dog during the workweek (what time wake up, when eat, how many walks a day, where to -- dog parks, trails, neighborhoods, runs, etc), how long left home alone, what time to bed?: I wake up around 8:00. Romeo usually sleeps until I wake up. We go for at least one walk a day. Sometimes I take him to work with me when I'm not working from home. He loves going to the dog park and enjoys visiting other dogs and exploring the dog park. We walk around my neighborhood with 2 of my dogs. He dogs well on a leash and although he is very over weight he moves along quickly and likes to run a bit. I only leave him home alone (with other dogs) for a few hours. I go to be around 11:00 p.m. and he follows me into the room and I lift him onto my bed. He settles in quickly and stays put all night. He sleeps throughout the entire day but gets up as soon as I change locations in the house and follows me.

Please provide a summary of the “ideal” home for your dog:: Romeo would love a home with someone or a family who is home a lot. Older children only! He does great in the car, loves to go for walks.
