Meet Murphy!
Murphy is looking for an active, skilled/experienced forever home. Murphy boasts an impressive list of great qualities:
He is treat trained to respond to many basic commands such as sit, lay down, wait, gentle, heel, stand up, and let's go. His release word is 'okay'. He can also rollover, jump (ok, now he's just showing off) and circle around using hand gestures, as well as the these command words. Murphy has been through professional training.
Murphy is well-behaved in the house and housetrained
Murphy has done well meeting dogs in off-leash settings
Murphy loves to FETCH and has been trained to bring the ball back (although sometimes he will hoard the ball to play with it himself when he is tired.)
Ideal home:
Murphy needs a home that will work on trust, bonding and engagement.
Murphy may do great in a home with a well-matched dog friend.
He is leash-reactive to passing dogs and needs continued work in this area. He pulls on leash when he sees cars, squirrels, dogs etc and as a big strong dog will need a very skilled handler.
He does not respond well to an e-collar or prong collar as he gets very frustrated especially if the correction is off.
Murphy recently landed a bite on a bicyclist biking up a hill — this bite did not seek medical attention and no treatment was sought, but important to note. If he is over-corrected on the leash when he is riled up he has whipped around and bite his handler (no punctures)
The ideal home will have a big fenced backyard in a quiet rural setting.
