Meet Penny Lane — 45 lb, 4 yr Husky Mix.

Location: Sacramento

Where did you get this dog?: I took her in about two years ago right before she was going to be surrendered to a shelter. She was abandoned by her original owners with a friend who could not afford to keep her, and could not get in contact with the original owners.

How long have you owned this dog?: I've had her for about two years.

Why is the dog being given up?: I was living in a house that allows dogs, but the owner of the house is selling. I have to move to an apartment that does not allow pets.

Penn Lane is super friendly and good with other dogs and cats. I put her through Petco training and she knows and responds to basic commands. I work multiple jobs and can be gone long periods of time; if left too long alone she can get into items out of boredom. She is crate and potty trained and does not have aggression of any kind, including food aggression. She is a lovable, high energy dog.

Spayed, up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives. No medical issues.

Is your dog housebroken?: Yes

Some accidents can occur when she is left alone outside of a kennel for long periods of time.

If she doesn't get enough exercise or play she likes to chew and will get into things if left alone.

Does the dog get along with:: Dog-Friendly

Penny gets along with all dogs, but she sometimes doesn't take cues from more aggressive dogs and can annoy and upset them.

GOOD with CATS

She is very friendly with strangers and loves to meet strangers. She can pull on leash a bit because she is so happy and excited.

Does the dog like children?: Yes

Where does the dog sleep?: On my bed or on the floor

Is the dog allowed on your furniture?: Yes

Is the dog crate trained?: Yes

Where do you keep your dog: She is crated inside the house when no one is home, and free to roam the house when there is someone home.

Desrcibe any training the dog has, tricks it knows, and any experience with a trainer.: She graduated from level two of Petco training and knows all the basic commands like sit, stay, wait, lay down. She listens when commanded with a firm tone, but will ignore half-hearted commands, especially when she hasn't had a walk or playtime recently.

Does the dog have any known health problems?: No

Does the dog like riding in the car?: Yes

What is the dog's favorite : She loves stuffed animals and anything she can chew, especially flavored dental bones. She is a really great runner, not so great at fetch because she gets easily distracted, but she loves to chase other dogs while they play fetch. She loves car rides and will sit nicely in the back seat when clipped into a seatbelt. She enjoys walks but gets really excited and pulls on the leash a little, but once she calms down about ten minutes into the walk she slows down and walks at your pace. She's a great jogging companion, especially for faster runners. She loves to snuggle and really just wants to be around her people.

What does the dog like?: She loves attention and being around her people. She loves to chew on bones and toys. She enjoys running with or without other dogs. She's super friendly and cheerful all of the time.

Does the dog jump kiddie gates or fences?: No

If yes, how high is the dog able to jump?: She can jump pretty high, maybe about 4-5 feet in the air, but I have never seen her try to jump a fence.

Please provide a summary of the “ideal” home for your dog:: She needs a home with active owners who either can be home with her often, or at least don't have to work more than the average amount of hours in a week and can dedicate spare time to take her on walks or play with her. A large yard is ideal as she is big and likes to run. A household with other pets is great, especially small dogs and cats.
