Dear Future Family -
Hi, I’m Taquita! I’m 10 weeks old and looking for a family who can play with and love me as much as I love them. I was rescued from a Craigslist posting, as the last puppy of a litter being given away. The owners graciously agreed to let a rescue find the best home for me, and my life is looking so much brighter!
Because I grew up with my litter, I’m very well socialized and LOVE playing with other dogs of all sizes. I’m still learning the nuances of potty training but have mastered going outside on command. I can also sit, and am working on not mistaking hands and feet for chewing, but am getting really good at listening!
I have a lot of energy and love to play first thing in the morning as well as a few more times throughout the day. I’m good at going potty on potty pads when my foster mom is away, and live for pouncing on rocks, finding the perfect stick in the backyard to carry around, balls to chase, and floppy toys or old towels to shake and play tug-of-war with.
I will be an amazing adventure dog once I get all my shots and can begin adventuring outside, and would love to come with you whenever you can bring your fur buddy.
Activity Level: High energy right now (I am a very happy puppy after all), but very good at sleeping throughout the day and at night.
Daily Exercise Needs: Please describe in detail.
Being a puppy, Taquita is best after getting ample playtime every day. She loves being with her humans and is very sad when everyone is gone, but can comfort herself after a couple minutes if they need to leave the house. A mixture of walking and running, plus playtime with a toy and human keep her happy every day. She loves to play with her paws, definitely a sign she has some boxer in her :).
Housetrained: not yet, but making great strides.
On-Leash: Haven’t had much leash time yet, but working on it!
Experience level of future adopters: Good for parents experienced with a puppy, and who enjoy all the phases and training.
Dogs: Dog friendly, and very submissive to other dogs
Kids: does not have experience yet with kids, but does not exhibit any signs that kids would be an issue. We typically suggest kids over 5 years for puppies under 5 months!
Cats: great with all cats, has been introduced to the neighborhood cats and was curious to say hi but did not chase when they ran off. Honestly her tail was wagging so fast when she saw them, definitely likes other cat friends.
Personality: Please describe -- super sweet, happy, a little weary around strange sounds or a dog barking on the other side of the fence and runs to a human for safety, confident, very people oriented, and learning independence but definitely wants to be with you if she has the choice.
Likes/Dislikes: Scout loves toys that she can shake, plastic toys for chewing, any treats (especially pieces of string cheese), tug-of war, cuddles when she’s worn out, and comfy cushioned beds to sleep on.
$375 adoption donation includes dewormed, flea tick treated, utd on first puppy shots, microchipped and spay (available with spay agreement). Adopters are responsible for completing age-appropriate shots.
