Meet Spinach!
Spinach is a 4-5 month old, 30-lb cattle dog mix who came to HFP by way of Bradshaw shelter w/ a fractured arm (cause unknown). He is a very playful, curious, and confident pup with lots of energy!
Spinach is housetrained and knows how to use a doggy door to go outside. He is not crate-trained, but he sleeps in a dog bed through the night with no accidents or whining. He sometimes chews on blankets/rugs or barks for attention but is easily redirected with toys. He is very food-motivated and receptive to training -- he's been working on sit, down, and shake. He can be vocal at times and often makes audible noises when lying down, yawning, and shifting positions.
Spinach has gotten along very well with the foster's resident dog but has mild resource guarding w/ food (warning growl) that is manageable and should be continued to work w/ if going to a home w/ other animals. He is very social and sweet when meeting new people but can be reactive to seeing dogs across the street.
The ideal home for Spinach would have a large enough backyard to run around and active people/family who either have experience with his breed or can dedicate time to work with him and provide mental/physical stimulus throughout the day. He would do well with a doggy sibling that has a similar energy level, given a slow introduction. He loves hanging out on the couch to sleep, play, and be with his family. He also loves carrots (or any snack really), sitting outside in the sun, and chewing on toys.
