Ranger

Hi there, I'm Ranger! I am a one year old Shepherd/husky mix and 64 lbs. I was a stray pup in central California, I don’t remember how but it probably had to do with being left alone and so I wiggled out of there to find a better home. HFP found me a foster home where I get the only things I’ve ever wanted, affection, doggie play dates, and 4 walks a day. I try to be a good boy but if we are on a walk, I just don’t care about the treats they try to give me to listen! I only like to potty outside. I like to greet anyone with a waggin’ tail and smooches so they know all I want is pets and no fights. I have been introduced to toys and am in love. I am very curious and love to sniff, but don’t worry, I won’t chew your shoes! As long as you take me to run in the middle of the day. My foster parents keep telling me to not climb in this grate where racoons live, I just don’t know why yet. I love mariachi music, it makes me want to dance and howl! I love being around other dogs, so much fun to chase each other. I would do best in a home that is very loving adventure home, if I do say so myself. I am alsoan easy-going guy and when we are not doing activity, I will just snooze.

Activity Level: Needs energy release and doggie play dates to be happy. Although, likes to snooze while everyone is going about the day. Can be a lazy boy.

Daily Exercise Needs:

Ranger is a mellow dog but still needs lots of exercise to be happy and thriving. He needs three good walks and or playdate (with another dog) each day. He loves to explore anywhere.

Housetrained: Fully house-trained!

On-Leash: Ranger is generally very good on walks, even better on runs. Does need

some practice to keep walking, he stops and sniffs and will beg to play by pulling and jumping up in excitement, sometimes barking at other dogs on walks. He is being trained that climbing in storm drains where opossums live is not a safe place.

Experience level of future adopters: Intermediate - lots of activity (with other dogs too), and affection. He is only receptive to treats in an environment that he already knows. Needs to be run/ walked in the middle of the day or he will be very sassy and ignore your commands. If you don’t he tells you he needs it by doing all the things he knows he is not supposed to.

Dogs: Dog friendly, loves rough playing and chasing with other dogs. He would love to live with another dog

Kids: Unsure but we suspect, good with kids. He thinks most high energy mean play time, so energetic kids he might play jump on them.

Cats: unsure, gets very distracted when we see one on a walk.

Personality: Very smart and picking up commands well. When he really wants something he will do anything other than be aggressive to get it. So very gentle and sweetest dog I’ve ever met. Always happy to see you, very affectionate, follows you around, will flop on the floor or a comfy chair when he sees everyone is low energy. Does not bark a lot, truly the happiest when playing with other dogs or running and sniffing. Loves to play cat/mouse with toys by pouncing and throwing toy up in the air. Hardly jumps on people. It will take time for him to gain your trust enough to follow your commands.

Likes/Dislikes: Ranger LOVES to be pet and play. He follows me everywhere around

the house and greets everyone with a waggin tail and open invitation to rub his belly.

Likes is face scratched gently. He loves being outside and playing with other dogs. Not

sensitive to loud noises, curious about squeaky sounds.

$250 adoption donation includes neuter, vaccinations, microchip and utd on monhtly preventatives.
